Preparations for planting
This view shows just part of the very extensive areas on both sides of the Red Burn that are soon to be planted with trees. The area in the foreground is shown, four years later, from the other side of the Red Burn, in NS3482 : Plantation beside the Red Burn; the background area is shown, also four years later, in NS3382 : Plantation beside the Red Burn.
See NS3480 : New forestry track for further details.
NS3382 : The glen of the Red Burn can be seen in the middle distance, on the left. Further away, the town of Helensburgh can be seen on the near shore of the Firth of Clyde. Just left of centre are the wooded slopes above Helensburgh, covered by Highlandman's Wood (NS2884 and adjacent grid squares). The smaller isolated strip of trees that is near those woods, and which is more or less above the centre of the photo, is the one shown in NS2985 : Path from Glen Fruin.
