View eastward from the main Down platform: major centre on the ex-GWR South Wales main line. Along with over 270 other TVR lcomotives that were acquired by the GWR in 1922, renumbered and 'Swindonized' No. 293 was built 6/1907 as TVR No. 59 and withdrawn 7/51. Apart from all the main line and local trains to be seen at Cardiff General, there were frequent freight workings which used the Through lines, all making for a Train-Watcher's Paradise. Cardiff General was renamed Cardiff Central in 5/73.
