Part of Penrhyn Castle
The castle is of course a mock castle, built mainly in the early to mid 19th century (on the site of a medieval castle) by the Pennant or Douglas-Pennant family who made vast fortunes from the sugar trade initially and quarrying subsequently.

Just the sort of place you or I might build if we had much too much money, not too deep an intellect and an unchannelled urge to leave a legacy or make a mark, but we were unsure exactly how best to achieve this.
