Outside changing rooms, St Nicholas Park Leisure Centre
Players on the outdoor pitches and the all-weather pitch use these changing rooms on the side of the sports hall. The swimming pool (with smoked glass, left, in SP2865) was the first part of the leisure centre to be built, back in the early 1980s. In midwinter sunshine the copper beech trees in the memorial avenue throw their shadows across the building.
The elephant and castle is the original name for this pub and goes back at least as far as 1880 when it was a humble beerhouse. The name of Simple Simon was coined in the 1970s and was linked to the Shires pie factory that was close by. The Elephant and Castle most likely refers to the coat of arms of the City of Coventry
