Eridge Station
Eridge Station
According to Wikipedia LinkExternal link : at the time the station was opened, there was no village of Eridge, the station being named after nearby Eridge Park, seat of the Earls of Abergavenny. There still is not much of a village here.

Of the two tracks visible, only the right hand one is currently in use (Platform 1). From here (looking in the direction of this photograph) the line is single track for the fifteen or so km to the terminus at Uckfield.

There are proposals that the volunteer-run TQ5437 : Spa Valley Railway should be extended to here where it would use the left hand track.
