The Finlaggan (CalMac ferry)
The Finlaggan (CalMac ferry)
The Finlaggan is currently (June 2012) Caledonian MacBrayne's newest ferry - so new that CalMac's own fact sheet LinkExternal link refers to her being yet to be built. She actually came into service in 2011 and can carry 550 passengers and 85 cars, making her one of the larger ferries in the fleet, but by no means the largest. She is seen here at the pier at Kennacraig just before her departure for Port Askaig on Islay. To date she is the only member of the CalMac fleet to have "clamshell" bow doors, seen opening in this image.
