At the National Museum of Rural Life there are strips of land at various stages of a seven year rotation:1) Oats or barley; 2) Brassicas or root crops; 3)Oats or barley; 4) Grass for hay 5, 6 and 7) grass for grazing.

Clover in the last four years fixes nitrogen and regenerates some fertility.
