Vale of Rheidol Railway closed due to flood damage
Vale of Rheidol Railway closed due to flood damage
A sign greeting intending passengers at the Aberystwyth station entrance as the railway sustained some damage during the extensive mid-Wales flooding on 9th June and had to be closed. The ballast was washed away from a short section of track between Llanbadarn and Glanrafon, adjacent to Afon Rheidol. The line was still closed on the following Wednesday but good progress had been made in restoring it. See also SN6080 : Damaged Vale of Rheidol Railway embankment.
