SZ5885 : Peanut Thief

taken 7 years ago, near to Alverstone, Isle of Wight, Great Britain

Peanut Thief
Peanut Thief
Seen at the Alverstone Mead Nature Reserve. Another visitor had left a few peanuts for the squirrels, but did not seen too upset to see this jay (Garrulus glandarius) making off with a couple. The jay is supposed to be a shy bird, but is willing to break cover when it feels safe to do so. This was one of a pair at Alverstone Mead.
