Cottenham: All Saints' tower from Twentypence Road
"The feature one remembers about Cottenham church is the tower with its odd stepped battlements and bulbous ogee pinnacles," wrote Nikolaus Pevsner. "It is of yellow and pale pink brick and dates, except for the ashlar-faced lower part, from 1617-19." Colour seemed especially pale on one of the many overcast mornings of the disappointing early and mid summer of 2012.
