Disused turbine on display at Elan Valley Visitor Centre
Located close to the visitor centre. Link The plaque on the plinth records that the hydroelectric turbine was one of two in use between 1952 and 1995, installed on opposite sides on the nearby River Elan, below Caban Coch dam. It generated 200 horsepower (150 kilowatts). 68 million litres of water passed through it daily. The new turbine installed in the turbine house on the south side of the River Elan generates 800 kilowatts -enough to power 800 homes.
