Hyde Market Renewal at end of June
Hyde Market Renewal at end of June
By the last Saturday in June most of the phase1 area had been flagged over and all the framework for new market stalls erected. c.v. May SJ9494 : Framework for new market stalls. One slight problem; the flags around the children's roundabout had raised the ground so much that it couldn't operate. Doubtless the problem will be shortly solved.
Cooke's Children's Carousel

The roundabout on Hyde Market was manufactured by Halsteads of Sowerby Bridge in 1897. It was established on Hyde Market in 1919 by John William (Jack) Greaves. In the 1920s he passed it to his daughter Lily and her husband Bill Cooke. It has now been in the Cooke family for three generations.
