Roundabout not turning
By the last Saturday in June most of the phase1 area had been flagged over. One slight problem; the flags around the children's roundabout had raised the ground so much that it couldn't operate. c.v April SJ9494 : Carousel still going round. Doubtless the problem will be shortly solved.
Cooke's Children's Carousel
The roundabout on Hyde Market was manufactured by Halsteads of Sowerby Bridge in 1897. It was established on Hyde Market in 1919 by John William (Jack) Greaves. In the 1920s he passed it to his daughter Lily and her husband Bill Cooke. It has now been in the Cooke family for three generations.
