Market Renewal Work
Market Renewal Work
Compare with the view on 28th April SJ9494 : Hyde Market Renewal Work. Most of this section of the market was now been flagged and new stalls erected. The stalls are in process of being fitted out. The children's roundabout was out of action for a few days but is now turning again.
Cooke's Children's Carousel

The roundabout on Hyde Market was manufactured by Halsteads of Sowerby Bridge in 1897. It was established on Hyde Market in 1919 by John William (Jack) Greaves. In the 1920s he passed it to his daughter Lily and her husband Bill Cooke. It has now been in the Cooke family for three generations.
