The first time I have seen rock roses in such profusion. The Latin name is Helianthemum nummularium. A south facing limestone or chalk slope is apparently ideal habitat, and they are thriving here. The edge offers wide views across the southern arc, overlooking the village of Great Longstone below (left of picture).
