Withnell Fold
The village of Withnell Fold dates from 1843, when the paper mill was built at the side of the canal. The village stocks were originally erected at the junction of Withnell Fold Road with the A674; they were later moved to Stocks Cottage Farm and, in 1957, they were finally put into their present position above the Memorial Garden.
