Black Country Living Museum - Newcomen tercentenary celebrations
You can safely say this doesn't happen every day! The Museum hosted a big event with the Newcomen Society to celebrate the terecentenary of Newcomen's Dudley Castle engine and the return to steam of the Museum's replica. The 1712 Newcomen engine is the first documented cylinder and piston engine to do useful work and Newcomen is rightly regarded as the inventor of the steam engine.
