Black Country Living Museum - shades of Thomas Savery
While the great and the good were collecting for the reinauguration of the Museum's replica Newcomen engine to celebrate the tercentenary of the Dudley Castle atmospheric engine, this gentleman was running the Pulsometer pump that is a direct modern descendent of Thomas Savery's steam pump patent in 1698. The discharge of water and clicking of its valves show that this device is working. I have helped operate a larger device in Etruria near Stoke-on-Trent but this was the first time I had seen one work for years. To the best of my knowledge there are only two workable examples in the country.
