Smailholm Tower
A low burst of July evening sunshine has highlighted Smailholm Tower with its new turf roof on Lady Hill in the Borders. This 15th century rectangular tower, set in a barmkin wall, houses an exhibition of tapestries and costume dolls relating to Sir Walter Scott’s Minstrelsy of the Scottish Borders. The tower is in the care of Historic Scotland.
