Bothwell Castle

A large medieval castle on the east bank of the River Clyde dating from the 13th C, with a huge cylindrical donjon, damaged as a result of sieges during the Wars of Scottish Independence, and not completed. It was the home of Walter of Moray [de Moravia, de Moray, Murray], and was rebuilt in the 15th C and abandoned in the 18th. It is now managed by Historic Scotland.
