Barclays Bank, Rothbury
Barclays Bank, Rothbury
Originally a branch of the Alnwick and County Bank which was eventually taken over by the North Eastern Banking Company, which was in turn taken over by the Bank of Liverpool in 1914, which became Martins Bank, which was taken over by Barclays in 1967/8.

Until the 1960's branch managers were expected to live in the community, in many cases living above the bank. This branch provided substantial accommodation, the manager being an important member of the local farming and business circle.
