Clearing up after floods, Canongate Jedburgh
During slow-moving thundery showers on Sunday 5 August the Skiprunning Burn immediately behind the houses in Castlegate had risen rapidly and overflowed the culvert that usually drains to the Jed Water. Flood water poured down the High Street and Canongate, resulting in damage to shops and houses.

Here water-damaged items have been piled up awaiting collection. At least the weather looks warmer and settled for a few days, which will help in the clean-up. Most businesses looked to be trading almost as usual.
