St Nicholas Church, Castle Hedingham Essex
The Cross in the foreground consists of a base and a carved cross at the top which are quite modern. Between these is a pillar dating from the early Norman period. Curiously, it was used as a ceiling support in the cellar of The Falcon Inn for hundreds of years before being erected here in 1921.
