Old Repeater Station
This is an old repeater station converted to a very attractive lodge for travellers, walkers cyclists and so on. It is close to a particularly spectacular section of the Roman Wall which is between Walltown Crags and Sewingshields Crags and not far from Housesteads Roman Fort.
A repeater station was used to route telephone traffic generated over long distances, as a staging post in order to prevent attenuation of signal strength.
