Art gallery and museum in Temple Gardens on Lindum Road, designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield and opened in 1927. James Ward Usher was born in 1845, the eldest son of Lincoln jeweller & watchmaker James Usher. He inherited the family business and made his fortune largely from making and selling novelty silver Lincoln Imps ! - his art collection formed the nucleus of the collection
