Woodhall Spa: spa baths
Woodhall Spa began as one man's vision. John Parkinson's dream was to open a coal mine, plant a forest and build a new town. In the process of looking for coal in 1821 he found the Spa water (which contained iodine and bromine).
The baths closed in 1983 after the well sides collapsed and the steam boiler chimney collapsed into the hole - it was pretty final!
The buildings fell into disrepair, as shown in Richard Croft's photo TF1963 : Spa baths, taken in 2009.
However, as shown in my photo from 2011, a certain amount of work has now been done to prevent further dilapidation. A rear-guard action!

The Golf Hotel offers hydrotherapy using the original spring water which is piped to their "Aqua Sante" spa, though you are not allowed to drink it.
