Hawarden Airport and the Airbus Beluga #1
Hawarden Airport and the Airbus Beluga #1
This photo was taken from just outside the square behind the security gates at the end of the main runway of Hawarden Airport. The strange looking Airbus Beluga has just landed and is taxiing on the crossway towards the factory where the wings for the Airbus planes are made. The entire front of the plane hinges open along the line to the right of the word 'Airbus' and the wings are then loaded on jigs directly into the body of the aircraft. The Airbus A380 wings are too large for this plane so are taken on a barge up the River Dee to Mostyn Docks for onward transportation.
