Cappoquin railway bridge
Cappoquin railway bridge
The Waterford, Dungarvan & Lismore Railway crossed the Blackwater river at this point. Officially named the Victoria Bridge, this name was hardly ever used by local population. The river was navigable for quite a distance further up than this location by schooners with tall masts however the construction of this bridge put a halt to this spawning new quays and docks immediately downstream.

The railway opened in 1878, but the Mallow to Dungarvan section of the line was closed in 1967.
