taken 13 years ago, near to Villierstown, Co Waterford, Ireland

Villierstown Quay
Villierstown Quay
There are a number of quays along this stretch of the Blackwater river showing how important the river once was as a part of the transport infrastructure - tall masted schooners could once be seen sailing up and down this stretch of the river.

There is a slipway to the right of the quay, matching a similar slipway on the opposite bank of the river in Strancally - this was once used as a ferry service across the river.

No longer used commercially, the quay is still used by small leisure boats today.
