X1091 : Kiltera Ogham Stones

taken 13 years ago, near to Villierstown, Co Waterford, Ireland

Kiltera Ogham Stones
Kiltera Ogham Stones
Ogham stones were placed in Celtic communities to mark a special event or the burial place of an important person. These special kind of standing stones bear a special form of writing.

At this location, one stone has remained hard to translate, while the other reads "Callabot son of Lug".

A third stone has been removed and now is found in the National Museum of Ireland in Dublin.
