taken 13 years ago, 5 km NE of Clashmore, Co Waterford, Ireland

St.Declan's Well, Toor
St.Declan's Well, Toor
It is said that St Declan stopped here on his journey from Ardmore to Cashel to quench his thirst and it was this act that is believed to have blessed the waters. Many come on pilgrimages to this location, believing in its healing powers.

The well is the small structure in the foreground - there is also an enclosed space where people can bathe in the waters behind the camera. There are a number of other structures and statues on the site including one of St. Declan and also a small pulpit where the mass is said each summer.
