Clifton, Arch House - BS8
A pedestrian's view of the access point into the Boyce's Avenue shopping area from the western corner of Victoria Square. This is Arch House, a 19th century property with a right-hand elliptical carriage archway that is Grade II listed (c.1850). It has large 20th century semicircular-arched windows set into the ground floor room beneath the arch. The attached wrought-iron railings to the side of the NW corner of the archway are also Grade II listed. Appropriately perhaps, a nationally and locally renowned delicatessen shop occupies the ground floor rooms - in the arch itself - ("UK Deli of the Year", Sept 2011 and "Bristol's Best Deli", July 2012).
