The Regent Bridge, Dromore
The Regent Bridge, Dromore
A three-arch stone bridge which once, before the building of the bypass J1953 : Bridge, Dromore bypass (1), carried the Belfast (left) – Dublin road across the River Lagan. The nearby information board (a photograph of which might be a serious breach of copyright) states that it was built in 1811 in memory of the CoI bishop Thomas Percy. The “Industrial Archaeology of Northern Ireland” gives the cost as £434. Last seen in July 2002 J2053 : Bridge over the River Lagan at Dromore, Co. Down. J2053 : The low Lagan, Dromore (2013-1) shows the Lagan at a very low level during the hot and dry spell in 2013.
