The church of St Cosmas and St Damian is away down a lane to the south of the village of Challock and is actually in Eastwell Park. Despite its remoteness it was badly damaged by a flying bomb in 1944 and was nearly demolished. The church is most noted for the wall paintings from the second half of the 20th century. On this day the annual flower festival was being held over the Bank Holiday weekend and the theme was the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. This display was entitled 'H. M. & Mr Bond at the Olympics'.
