Busy on the River Trent
Busy on the River Trent
An interesting array of craft. The shot is taken from The Leicester Trader, a preserved barge which spent its working life on the River Trent. Approaching is a maintenance vessel of the Canals and Rivers Trust, followed by a broad-beam cruiser and a narrowboat.
Heading away downstream is the Newark Crusader, operated by St John Ambulance Waterwing providing river trips with the disabled, elderly and people with special needs specifically catered for. LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link )
River Trent

The River Trent is the third longest river in England (185 miles). It rises on Biddolph Moor, Staffordshire, then follows a generally north east to northerly path to join the River Ouse at Trent Falls. The Ouse & Trent combined form the Humber Estuary.
It is a very important river, economically having a number of Power Stations and industrial sites along its banks. It is navigable as far as Burton-On-Trent.
