Resurgence beside Grayrigg Hall Beck
Resurgence beside Grayrigg Hall Beck
'On S side of beck about 365m WNW of Grayrigg Hall at edge of a small wood is a powerful rising. The water emerges from narrow fissures ....... ' (Northern Caves Vol 3, Dalesman Books, 1994). In this guidebook the nearby Grayrigg Cave is described as the flood overflow and is only 6m in length. It is surprising that such an unimpressive cave is actually recorded by the OS on a map although it appears to be the only natural limestone cave in the area.
