SJ8092 : Chorlton Ees from the Mersey bund

taken 12 years ago, near to Chorlton-Cum-Hardy, Manchester, England

Chorlton Ees from the Mersey bund
This looks over the old floodplain (or Ees) now protected by an embankment (or bund). In researching this area, I have discovered that firstly, Chorlton Ees was once a sewage works and secondly that 'Ees' means land that gets flooded by a river. Is there a connection there?
