Gilsland Spa Swimming Pool, Shallow End (disused)

The footpath which branches off to the right, halfway down, is an optional detour to the swimming pool. Yes, a full-size tiled pool, complete with deep end, but now containing only leaf-mould. It is a surreal sight among the towering beeches and oaks, struggling to raise their heads above the valley sides.
