The shingled broach spire in the Surrey tradition is a local landmark, and displays a clock face.

Church of St James, Titsey
The original church of St James was situated in the grounds of Titsey House. It was replaced by a new church on the present site in 1776, and rebuilt in 1860-61 by Granville Leveson Gower to the design of J.L. Pearson in neo-Gothic style. It is listed grade 2* (List Entry Number 1294053).

Originally it had the status of a parish church, the Patrons being the Leveson-Gowers of Titsey Place, but an Order in Council of 1956 united the benefice with that of Limpsfield; it was last known to be in use for public worship in 1960 and declared redundant in 1973. It was vested in 1980 in the Titsey Trust as a private chapel and monument. The building is still consecrated and in use for occasional services. [source: Diocesan records]
