Mason Holes and Scordale
Mason Holes is the name given to an extensively worked area on the north west flank of Scordale. The hillside is scarred by ravines (hushes), one of which is in the foreground. Now that the lead mines have closed and nature is reclaiming the scene this is once more a wild and remote landscape, particularly since access is restricted by the Warcop firing ranges.
