A view of the brake wheel in the cap, this transfers energy from the sails to the main wind shaft via the wallower. Note the semi wood and iron construction.
Alford Windmill - Lincolnshire
The large Lincolnshire mill built in 1837 by the well-known local millwright John Oxley. It ran until 1955 when milling technologies had made windmills redundant.
