TF3387 : The Gatherums

taken 12 years ago, near to Louth, Lincolnshire, England

The Gatherums
The Gatherums
This is a strange little area in the town centre, a strip of green running alongside a path that connects two streets.
It is usually quite dark, because it is sandwiched between two rows of houses, and was quite a scruffy, sinister place until the Council decided to give it a makeover a few years ago. Of course it wanted to pull all the trees down, but some were saved after a public outcry. The end result is pretty tame but more usable.
There used to be a row of slum dwellings along it with the Aswell Spring running through an open ditch in front of them. The spring now runs underground and can be heard near Aswell St., where there is an inspection cover.
However the Gatherums is let down by the Aswell Street end, which is a bit derelict.
