St Edmund's church, Riby

Grade II*listed

The church dates from the 12th century onwards, and was rebuilt in 1868.
There is a central tower, nave with south aisle, north and south transepts, and vaulted chancel.
The crossing dates from the 14th century and the tower is perpendicular. There is an embattled parapet with gargoyles and pinnacles.
The south aisle is of three bays with octagonal piers, probably dating from circa 1300. The nave was rebuilt in 1863 by Benjamin Ferrey. He also rebuilt the chancel with an attractive vaulted ceiling.
There are a variety of monuments and three hatchments in the chancel.
There are several stained-glass windows by different makers.
The font probably dates from the time of the restoration of the church in the 1860s, but here is also an older disused font, probably Saxon.
There is a two manual organ by Kirkland from 1905.
