Kenilworth Road, Coventry

Kenilworth Road was turnpiked in the 18th century and at that time the then owner planted spinneys to either side as a screen to the land behind. In 1926 Coventry Council, keen to preserve the rural aspect, included the spinneys as part of a large purchase of land to the south and west of Coventry acquired from Lord Leigh of Stoneleigh Abbey and they are now included in the Kenilworth Road Conservation Area.
