National Cycle Network 13 towards Rainham
This riverside path leads from Purfleet past a large landfill site (on the right) towards the Rainham Marshes (part of the RSPB Rainham Marshes).

Several mileposts are placed along the route.

On the left is the River Thames and the town of Erith across the river.
National Cycle Route 13

This route will connect Tower Bridge in London with Fakenham in Norwich. Passing through East London close to the Thames, Route 13 then heads north from Tilbury to Chelmsford in Essex. After a stretch on National Route 1 (also part of EuroVelo 2) National Route 13 resumes at Colchester and continues north to rejoin National Route 1 just south of Fakenham in Norfolk.
See LinkExternal link and LinkExternal link for more details.

River Thames

The River Thames rises at Thames Head in Gloucestershire on the slopes of the Cotswolds and flows generally eastward to its mouth near Southend in Essex. At 215 miles long it is one of the longest rivers in Britain, and the longest entirely within England. It is one of the most important rivers in Britain. LinkExternal link
