TQ3181 : Farringdon station: former signal box

taken 7 years ago, near to London, City of London, Great Britain

Farringdon station: former signal box
Farringdon station: former signal box
When Farringdon station was first built this signal box was presumably at the northern end of the platforms. Successive redevelopments have extended the platforms northwards past the signal box (and past the crossover opposite it, resulting in the unusual situation of the current-bearing third rail being on the side nearest the platform) and then extended the roof over it.
The traces of a large roundel visible here have subsequently been painted out: see TQ3181 : Farringdon station: former signal box.
