The big tree, Fell End Clouds
The big tree, Fell End Clouds
This large sycamore is the only tree in the area and is even shown on the large scale maps. It appears to have taken root in a pile of rocks, possibly thrown out of one of the nearby lead mine trenches, and so avoided destruction by grazing sheep. It is certainly a magnet for birds. Unfortunately, I arrived too late for the best light to do any justice to the location - definitely a place to return to.
