St Michael & All Angel's, Ilderton
Saint Michael & All Angels' Church is in the small village of Ilderton now at the end of a minor road that ends at the village. The village was once on the main road south from Wooler but that changed with the creation of the C18th turnpike road to the east (now A697).
The tower of St Michael's dates in part from the C13th. The church was largely rebuilt in the C18th and the nave and chancel are of simple Georgian architecture. The church was built using pink sandstone and has a polygonal apse with a Victorian east window.
There was much restoration and repair in the latter half of the 1800s, when the chancel was richly decorated. Windows were more recently installed in the nave.
