Folded Limestones
Folded Limestones
Red Hill Limestones, Dinantian, lower Carboniferous. Shallow marine carbonates with occasional evaporites. Now folded into an antiform (this is the s part of the fold) or possibly just a monocline. It's hard to see with most of it worn away. Host rocks for the West Cumbrian orefield (hematite). Former Permian cover had been eroded.
