Drilling for Zinc above Nenthead
Drilling for Zinc above Nenthead
The drilling rig is on the fellside in Cumbria about 300 metres south of the border with Northumberland. This is a test drill designed to reach a depth of around 500 metres in the unexplored limestone of the basal Carboniferous stratigraphy and 350 to 400 metres below the Great Limestone. If commercial qauntities of zinc ore are discovered then nearby Isaac's Tea Trail might be used as an access road to the mine site.
